HPV Vaccination

Have you had your HPV vaccine?

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally and also is among the most deadly cancers. However, there is a simple measure that can be taken to prevent it; getting vaccinated at an early age. As this cancer is caused by a virus called human papilloma virus (HPV), preventative vaccines were developed, and this success earned German scientist Dr. Hausen the Nobel Prize in 2008. In many developed countries, the HPV vaccine is included in the 9-15 year old vaccination schedule and is administered to all children, both girls and boys, and with regular gynecological examinations in later years, we may witness in the not-too-distant future that the “most deadly cancer of its time” has become history.

Let’s raise awareness of the HPV vaccine, share it with those around us, and protect our loved ones with this simple measure.
