Egg Freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation)

We know that as women age, the number and quality of their eggs decrease, making it more difficult to conceive. Perhaps you have a career plan, perhaps you are not thinking about having a child right now, perhaps you have not yet met the person you want to be with, or perhaps there is a medical reason such as chemotherapy that is known to decrease your ovarian reserve.

At this point, the egg freezing method is very important for women to be able to have children in the future.

The egg freezing process actually involves the first stage of in vitro fertilization treatment, meaning that the eggs are developed and matured with treatment and then collected under anesthesia and frozen until they are ready to be combined with sperm in the future.

As you get older and your egg reserve decreases, the number and quality of eggs that we can obtain for freezing also decrease. Therefore, in cases where there is a family history of early menopause or a decrease in ovarian reserve is detected, it is important to perform the egg freezing process without delay in order to increase the chance of pregnancy in the future.

Another important point to note is that the egg freezing process does not guarantee pregnancy. Some of the collected eggs may not survive after thawing, some may not be fertilized, or some of the resulting embryos may not be healthy and may not reach the embryo transfer stage. Although there is no definitive answer to the question of how many eggs need to be frozen to achieve a healthy pregnancy, having at least 10 eggs being frozen provides a chance to achieve a healthy pregnancy. Sometimes, a sufficient number of eggs cannot be collected in a single egg retrieval process, so multiple egg retrieval procedures may be necessary to achieve the desired number of eggs for a successful pregnancy.

If you are over 35 years old, do not have plans to have a child in the near future, or have a family history of early menopause, please consult with a specialist about the status of your ovarian reserve. Many women are unaware of the existence of such a method, and sometimes they apply too late, making it very difficult to find eggs. Please inform your friends and loved ones about this method. With advancing technology, let no one be too late to take this precaution.
